I met my husband of almost ten years whilst on an exchange with university. We completed the K1 process when I returned home and all went well. I moved and received my 2 year green card. Before it expired we decided to move to the UK. VISA Journey was my lifeline through this process!

We've been her 8 years now and have decided we are ready to move back with our children (one U.S. Born the other a naturalised US citizen). My husband received his UK citizenship before Christmas so we are covered if we want to return (the new UK rules are tough!).

We put the house up for sale on Saturday and had an offer by the Sunday so fingers crossed. I've just sent my passport renewal in and we are just sending my husbands taxes in (back dated 3 years as we didn't do it :( ).

I'm going to get the paperwork going for the I-130 - can I submit this before we have an acknowledgment of my husband's tax returns?

Anyway I figured I should re-introduce myself as I'll be sharing my journey and probably relying heavily on this forum throughout the process.

12/05/05 NVC received application! (say 2-4 week wait)
12/13/05 Found out forms were sent to London on 12/08/05!
12/20/05 Packet 3 received!
01/11/06 Medical - Knightsbridge London
01/18/06 Sent back packet 3!
02/15/06 Received packet 4!

02/13/06 INTERVIEW DATE 03/22/06 AT 10.30AM!! - APPROVED

Married July 29th 2006!!

08/17/2006 Filed for AOS and EAD
08/26/2006 NOA1 received for both (dated 08/24/06)
09/06/2006 RFE email.....not sure what for yet!
9/07/2006 Biometrics completed
10/13/2006 Transferred to CSC!!
11/02/2006 Approval email received!!
11/08/2006 Welcome to USA letter arrives!

11/13/2006 GREEN CARD RECEIVED - NO MISTAKES!!!!

06/06/08 Family moved back to UK!!

Husband gained UK citizenship September 2015

10/31/2016 Embassy interview

Welcome back.

Please clarify what you mean by, "back dated 3 years as we didn't do it".

Also, kind of risky putting the house up for sale prior to completing the immigration process.

You do know about Direct Consular Filing with the USCIS office in London? Much shorter process that filing via Chicago.

Tax returns will be taken to your interview and are not part of the I-130. I don't think tax returns are typically acknowledged as received by the IRS.

Well we were ready for a move anyway even if we were to stay in the UK so that's why we put the house up for sale.

When we went to the embassy last year the guy told us to file the past three years taxes so that's what I meant.

I've read all about DCF so hopefully everything goes well and is faster than the K1 process.

Thanks for the tax info. I'll post them tomorrow so they should hopefully be processed by the time my interview comes around.
