I had my interview for the Spousal IV (CR-1) on May 2nd at the Montreal Consulate. At the interview my visa application was approved and the consular officer completing the interview welcomed me to the United States. They took my passport for processing and to add the visa to it. It was then supposed to be couriered back

In the information Packet 4 it says 3 days for processing and then up to 5 days for the courier to get it back to you. In the Welcome letter they give you at the interview it says up to 2 weeks to get your passport back. When I asked my interviewing officer about the discrepancy between the two documents he said it would be closer to 2 weeks.

It has now been over 4 weeks and I have heard nothing. I check the Consulate website every day to see if a tracking number has been issued but nothing changes. I have emailed them as this is the only way to communicate but all I get back is the same generic email that my file is under consular review. I seem to be in a black hole with no way of knowing where my passport and visa is. It is super frustrating!! All I want to know is what is the actual processing time so we can make plans, or has my file been lost on someones desk?

There seems to be no way of finding out...

I wish I knew some other alternative. Have you tried to call the # for them at all? Only other thing I can think of is to try tweeting @usconsmontreal (don't include any personal info) and see if they reach out. You might be surprised.

There is no # for visas at Montreal. You can only email or uae the online form.

Was there anything unusual about your case? Are you a multigenerational Canadian citizen?
