Travelling back and forth before green card issued

Hi Everyone,

I am sponsored by my father (FB-1), and expecting to have visa in October. My boyfriend and I are both Canadian, and I will be sponsoring him soon after I immigrate to the States.

I'd need more time to get my job transferred to the US office and at the same time I also wanted to speed up a process of getting the green card/SSN.

Is there any issue if I activate my visa in October and go back to Canada a week after, then moving to the States permanently in 3-4 months?

Your inputs are greatly appreciated!

Since your visa will become a temporary green card valid for 1 year, this shouldn't be an issue. HOWEVER, realize that once you activate that visa and you become an LPR of the USA, you are no longer a resident of Canada. That means you're not entitled to provincial health care.

Some people dont realize. You will have 6 months from your medical date to activate the visa (it becomes a temporary green card for 1 year.)

Are you wanting to minimize time before the hard copy green card?

Yes, I am trying to save as much time as possible on getting the hardcopy GC while getting things packed up in Canada and job ready in California.

Do you have any suggestion?
