Not cheapest way, but why not go via Dublin and do POE that side of the Atlantic.

Thank you, goodnight and may your gods go with you",

hi was considering dublin as POE flights aren't that bad price wise, though im concerned about connection as when i looked it was only 2 hrs and they say leave at least 3hrs and then someone said best do POE on american soil incase anything goes wrong- though what can go wrong you have an embassy stamp in yor passport showing your approved fingers crossed. Ill search see if anyone did itas POE and get their comments

thanks

Ummmm...your white envelope of files is in Ireland and doesn't find it's way to the U.S to match up with your AOS??

I have never read of anybody complaining about POE in Ireland if that's your best route.

We always use BA, which is why all the accumulated air miles came in handy, and a first class one way ticket with all the luxury and extra baggage you could want became as cheap as a economy class round trip. For us there was only ever one direct flight from the UK into Baltimore, so booking directly with BA (the only one that provides the flight) seemed the best option. Flights in summer are always going to be costly, but other factors such as the day you fly on also may change the price a great deal. You'll have to experiment.

Yay! I'm moving to Maryland too; in about 4 months and currently trying to find the cheapest way to transfer about 5 suitcases. Argh!

48 airports that I can remember and after so many years of flying and more dog legs in the US than I want to remember I can also see the attraction of direct flights to airports near where I want actually to land (looking at you Ryanair :crying: ) and with airlines I have heard of.

Funnily enough after nearly twenty years of flying to the US the very first time I got to sit upstairs on a 747 was on my POE flight. Really made the trip. I even had my dog in the hold - had sent a photo to the Captain asking him to check the heating was on. Just about all the crew came back and spoke to me. Very sweet.

Cheap(er) flights - used to use Kayak mostly but quite like Google Flights now.

What I have found that works good a least for us is going on cheapOair.com and then we go directly to the airline and usually find the same flight a few dollars cheaper.

The nice thing about going to the airline directly is if you need to make a change for one reason or another, it is usually cheaper to do so.

Momondo.com is a good resource, and usually has the best prices.

However, to be thorough, i always cross-check it with cheapflights.co.uk and cheapoair.com, then run it by matrix.itasoftware.com (this is the back end of Google Flights, with better prices).

I also like to check routes via rome2rio.com, as they can sometimes map alternative flight destinations + transport to final destination if it'll be cheaper -- e.g. when flying home to Baltimore, I sometimes can save hundreds AND get closer to my house by flying into NYC and taking a train directly down to the city.

Oh my days!

AlexandAaron can we be friends?

I just read your timeline! Congrats guys!

I worked in Islington on Upper Street until last year and I'm moving to MD.

Alex can we speak about career/corporate opportunities and living in MD generally if you don't mind?

I would love to meet an English guy who's open to moving to the States like you met Aaron. Lol

Alexandaaron,

I'm in London. My interview is next month.

As I didn't ever plan to move to the US I've lived in England like I'm here permanently so I have a lot of stuff to get rid of. I don't think I'll leave till the 6 month window is almost up so Dec I think.

F.

Awesome, well, Baltimore is a great city -- despite its sometimes-fearsome reputation, and I'm more than happy to have a private message/chat about what to do and how to look for jobs in Maryland!
