Peititoner birth certificate - I didn't send one

I was reading the official i-130 instructions today and realized that the guide on this form has a different wording that what I see there.Apparently a US born petitioner will need to show his birth certificate but I only sent 28 pages of my US passport. The passport obviously says I was born here but now im worried that an RFE might ask about the certificate.

SO can someone tell me if they require a birth certificate for US citizens when I already gave copies of the passport?
