Hello,

When my wife and 2 step children (13 and 15) go to the medical exam at St Lukes in Manila they will have no record of immunizations to show. Although we know the children have had most of what is required/available in the Philippines since birth, the clinic has lost all records due to flooding. Now I know from what I have read that St. Lukes will administer what they deem necessary but I am worried about how may shots and how long it will take to get all of these shots. I have no idea if some of these will take multiple trips back to St. Lukes and if it will be over a course of weeks or months. Problem is we will be on about a 30 day time-frame between medical and interview. Then hopefully less than 30 days after interview until flight to US. Once in the US they will need to prove immunizations before registering for public school (almost immediately).

Does anyone know what shots kids that age need and how long it takes? Can they move along with all the steps listed above if they are in the process of getting those completed?

Thanks

SLEC Medical only takes two days (assuming eveything is OK). First day will be the actual medical (lab, x-ray etc) and 2nd day will be the immunisation if you pass.

It will only take longer if they see something in the patients lungs that will require sputum test to be done (this will delay the process by 2 months and 6 more if any of them test positive for TB).

Hi!

Your 13 year old step-daughter will undergo tuberculin test, so their medical will run for 3 days. She will be tested on the first day and the result should be released on the 3rd day. Consider in their schedule; they should NOT start on a Thursday.

  • Tuberculin Skin Test - Required for applicants 2-14 years of age
  • Since Tuberculin Skin Testing requires an observation period of 48-72 hours, applicants 2-14 years old are advised not to come for their medical examination on a Thursday. The clinic is closed on weekends, so the TST cannot be interpreted before it expires.

Applicants are advised return to the clinic at least an hour before the time indicated on the TST return slip, to prevent expiration of TST.

Your wife will be interviewed on your kids vaccine history, if they don't have the records that's fine. The doctor will ask for chicken pox scar and vaccine scar (BGC) that was normally given when they were babies; they also ask if the kids was bitten by any animals. My 16 year old was given 3 vaccines (but we have her vaccine records thus some vaccines were already recorded). Vaccines are age specific and don't worry if they will be given more, vaccines do not cause overdose. That will be to your advantage since they will have the vaccines they need for school records and no addtl fees since it was included in the SLEC fee.

They do not need to come back for additional dosage of vaccines in any other days- the only reason that they may need to come back as mentioned on the comments is if there was any finding on their xray/ tuberculin test. That would be the sputum test that will delay you for 2-3 months and if TB findings at least 6 months. Bring any previous xray film of they have any.
