We were hoping to have the good news by now before we shared our experience with you all , but it seems to be dragging we will just go ahead and share. I was in Ghana few weeks ago but had to leave due to my work schedule, so no I didn't go with my fiance. Yes we front loaded lots of evidence ( facetime, whatsapp, emails, Facebook, etc) We also had another set of evidence that he took with him. I will advise you make a photo album telling your story, ( like starting from when you met till now) The digital birth certificate I hear is the new birth certificate which allows the Embassy to authenticate it validity, so there's a high probability that if your fiance has the old one, he/she might be asked to provide the new one. These are some of the questions the CO asked:

  • Who filed for you?
  • Whats is your fiance's name?
  • How long have you known each other?
  • What is her occupation
  • Where does she work?
  • When did she start working at her present job?
  • What is her salary?
  • How did you meet?
  • Have you met your fiance's mother?
  • Have you had knocking Ceremony?
  • Where will the wedding take place?
  • Who will be your best man/maid of honor
  • Will you family be present at your wedding?
  • What if they cant make it to your US wedding?
  • Have you purchased a wedding dress?
  • What will the wedding dress color be?

These are some of the questions the CO asked. According to my fiance she was very strict, obviously looking for signs of nervousness and lack of confidence. He also said the CO didn't open our file whiles conducting the interview, so her attention was focused solely on him. One piece of advise also, do not volunteer too much information, keep your answers short and precise, else you will find yourselves answering questions you didn't plan on answering.. lol… after all she said all is fine but we should submit updated Birth certificate to DHL document collection center and she gave us a slip and ticked BC for the submission along with the passport. We have done that. they said it will take two weeks after submission to get visa but its the third week since we submitted at DHL but haven’t heard anything yet… anyone in the same boat? or has anyone ever experienced this ?

Thanks so much for the update! My fiancé is also in ghana waiting for an interview. Question in ghana embassy are the petitioners allowed to go to the interview. I know they might not interview me but if I could at least be inside with my fiancé I know that will help out a ton!

These days they are not really allowing Petitioners enter the Embassy for security reasons, but sometimes too Petitioners do enter the Embassy, I guess it all depends on the day. i would still advise you go to the interview if possible.

Congrats and hopefully you should receive the visa soon. Stories like yours brings a lil bit hope to Ghanaian applicants

Thank you, and good luck to you in your upcoming interview.. I'm sure everything will go smoothly. There is hope, these ruthless CO's cannot change what God has put together.
