I believe he can either be on his mother passport or have a passport of his own. As for the presence at the interview, you have to check with the embassy there.

I think the K2 also gets a visa stamp in their passport but am not certain of that.

Just go get him a passport. You'll be flying back and forth to your wife's country and he will be 10 years old before you know it so might as well just get it out of the way. Besides, it will make the little guy feel really imporant and part of the family.

Yes your Gf's son has to have a passport. Your GF will also have to bring him with her to the interview. Her son will be a K-1 derivitive, he will get a K-2 visa.

His mother will have to provide a copy of his NSO birth certificate, and his baptismal certificate.

OK, we will get his passport also. How does it work as her son. Will I have to adopt him or will be be my son after we marry? His father took off and has never been seen after she became pregnant. Hope that doesnt delay him coming with her.

Big question here.. Is the father listed on the Birth Certificate? If I remember correctly, you then also have to go through some additional steps for the Philippine government to prove abandonment, or get approval of the "missing" parent. This is coming off of my memory from the old Asawa Forums.

Anyone know more about this?

Getting a passport, visa, and getting married will not make him your adopted son. You will still have to go through the normal process of adoption.
