Correct, you'd follow the CR-1 spousal visa process, which takes about a year. She can stay however long they give her at the border; usually, that is 6 months, but it may be less. Keep in mind that if she stays 6 months, she is unlikely to be allowed back for a long time, as you are supposed to be out longer than you were in the USA. So depending on your plans, it may be better fro her to only stay a couple of months, go home, then visit again alter for Christmas, or birthdays, or whatever.

Thank you for explaining this. When you say "at the border" does this mean anywhere in the US?

At this point it kinda makes more sense to stick with the K-1 process, as that would only be 6-7 months we'd have to wait as opposed to her staying here for 5 months, then having to go back for 4 months to be let back in again. Do I have that right?

Well, anywhere where she crosses into the USA- basically, when she enters the USA, be that via plane or bridge, she will get her passport stamped with a date she needs to leave by.

Yeah K1 would be much faster; CR-1 is cheaper and has the advantage that she can work and travel right away, which can be useful, depending on her situation, for example if she has elderly relatives at home and may need to visit quickly.
