More worried now after phone call from Paris Embassy

Okay, I sent the original of my divorce papers per the CO's request and they were delivered and signed for today at the Embassy. I checked our status and the status date changed to today's date. I thought ok that means they have the documents. Then tonight my fiancé tells me he received a call from the Embassy asking him if he wanted them (Embassy) to cancel the visa application for his daughters. He has two girls, one is over 21 and the other is 20 but neither of the girls are coming with him (their choice) and we never petitioned or applied for them. The only place they are listed is on the original I-129f petition in the section where it asks about former spouses and children. I double checked the DS-160 and it clearly indicates no one is coming with him. He also said they asked him during his interview if it was only him and he said yes only him. He was told to send an email to the Embassy indicating as such.

I'm not sure what has happened between USCIS and the Embassy but someone has gotten this wrong and now I'm worried it's going be totally screwed up and the whole thing denied.

I hope someone can give me some insight because this just keeps getting worse by the day.
