Unable to login CEAC website and fill out DS-261

Hi,

I received the NVC welcome letter a week ago. It asked me to login CEAC website and fill out DS-261, before paying the visa fee.

I got the following error message once I typed in the NVC case number and invoice ID number.

"The selected Case Number and Invoice Identification Number combination you entered does not match our records. Please try again or contact the National Visa Center for further assistance."

This prevent me from moving to the next step. I noticed the website had issue last year causing such problems for lots of people. Is anyone experiencing the same issue recently? I'm going to call NVC tomorrow. Any suggestions about how I can ask them to address the issue asap?

When you called NVC what did they say?

Is your PD current? The date is 22MAY09 now.

Can you please fill out your timeline that helps us answer you better.

Many get case# but can not proceed until their date comes close to current. So it depends. I know of many filers who got as far as you have and couldn't proceed for months.

According to you, visa fee is not paid yet. That is the problem.

That matters not if they pay or not. They should not be getting an error unless NVC has not unlock their case# yet. That does happen if they aren't current or close to being current. They will assign your case# then you sit. Usually the fee and DS-261 are available same time. They can't even get logged on.

My PD is 21Sep2010. I understand the current PD is 22MAY09. However, the current filling date is 15Dec2010. That's why NVC sent me the welcome letter.

I think it means I should be able to proceed the visa process. I believe many applicants are in the same situation as mine. If we cannot proceed further, what's the meaning of filling date..

Filing date is USCIS has nothing to do with NVC. Not being current and you are looking at over a year and a half before you do. You will be sitting quite awhile. NVC gave you a Case# but processing would be a waste why pay the fee's and sit for over a year.
