I apologize in advanced if this type of question has been asked before or if I am asking it in the wrong topic but I have been searching all over the Internet for answers but I can't find any so I am hoping I will be able to find some here.

I am 18 and not married and live in Beirut, Lebanon and I am currently trying to become a USA permanent resident (green card) . My step mother who is a USA citizen applied for a i130 for me in May, it was accepted in September, my priority date is May 4th 2015 and recipient date May 5th 2015 and my notice date is September 21 2015. In the i130 approval letter it said my case will be sent to the NVC. I have several questions. What is a NOA1 and NOA2? Secondly and most importantly. I have checked my case status and it says it was sent to the Department Of State on September 25th. Is this normal for it have been at the department of state for so long? The website says it is there for visa processing so I'm not sure exactly sure how long it's supposed to take. What exactly comes after that and when will it be done? Also, why was my case sent to the department of state and NVC while everyone else that I see on here has their case sent to other areas such as Texas? Thanks in advance.

NOA1 is the receipt notice and NOA2 is the approval notice.

If your petition was approved in September and you are a minor unmarried child of a USC, then you should've received correspondence from NVC about the next steps. At the NVC stage, you will send all relevant financial, and civil documentation. After they deem everything is okay, they will schedule an interview and send your petition to the US Embassy.

(The NVC is a part of the Department of State).

I suggest you call NVC to find out if they have your case and if they can email you a copy of your letter containing the case number and whatnot.

Here's a NVC guide: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

Thanks! As far as I know we have so far payed all fees and even have a cosigner for the affidavit of support. In mid December we received a email from the NVC stating that they were backed up a bit, I believe they said to give them a month? Anyways, I just want to know what comes after the DoS and should it be any longer? I'm still not sure if from September till now is a unusual long time for my case to be at the DoS or is it normal?

Oooh, I see now.

It sounds about normal. You can always call and inquire to see if they're close to completing your case.
