Not a favorite, but accidently incorporated, and a malapropism to boot!

If he hadn't seen someone in a long time, or something had not occured for a long time "Oh, it's been donkey's years". Same way I learned Greek, I just aped it. I figure, well, donkeys live a long time (noble beasts).

Then one day it occured to me that it didn't really make sense. However, donkeys *do* have long EARS.

That makes more sense to me.

It's my opinion that we've added more Briticisms to the house than the other way 'round, but he's done quite a good job of using American terms for things. Finds it easier to get on that way.

Shoooot.. just reading that, I can tell who has been more influenced..... (doesn't help that my folks are living on the Costa del Golf and we all talk funny now). If any of youse EVER calls me Madge....

This thread is great!

I say "ta" as in the thank you ALL the time, I get the strangest looks! Haha.

I used but hate "minger" or "minging", I dislike it but its stuck on my tongue.

Occasionally I sound VERY chavish and say "thats WELL nice"...my husband laughs at me

If I call Dave or the dogs a cheeky monkey, he thinks it's hilarious.

He asked me to teach him some cockney rhyming slang the other day and couldn't work out what apples and pears had to do with stairs. He is now calling the local bar a rub a dub tho!

He's adopted oh bloody hell (especially in traffic) which is one of my favourites.

I lived in Hadleigh for about a year wayyyyy back in 84. I was actually born in Romford and lived all around there up until I was about 8. Have aunts and cousins still in Basildon and my sisters in Romford still. I used to love walking Southend Pier and had many a good saturday night down that way.

My Dad used to call the Hadleigh part of London Road "the street of a thousand car dealers"! :P

Yeah, Southend isn't bad for a night out and the Esplanade looks pretty at night. They have speeding restrictions now for the cars and the posers, so no more speeding idiots showing off. Thank gawds.
