Moving to US in a month ...

I am moving to the US (New York) permanently next month and as the time gets closer I guess my anxiety is taking over, for those of you who have moved recently especially from the Caribbean what has been your biggest adjustment and how have you handled it.

did not move from Caribbean but still from a warm country, had to get used to wearing long sleeves in cold weather lol, I know sounds silly but it's weird to me. The fact that you have to go to the store, we usually have people come to our door selling vegetables and such so not a lot of supermarket going before in my life.

Having to switch my career and not having my friends here whom I am used to seeing on a regular basis. It is a big adjustment because the first 3 months I was just getting my bearings, then started the job search, it's all really overwhelming if you think about it all at once.

Thank Dohan. Yes the security of family is one of my reasons for anxiety, along with, job hunting, weather, school for my son and building a social circle. As exciting as it can be it still makes me anxious as my trips to the US before have been vacation, moving permanently

But I remain positive I know it won't be an easy adjustment in the beginning but it will eventually become my way of life and my new home. Then I will have vacations in the Caribbean to look forward too

hello ! yeah it's a lot of stress and a ot to think about too, it's also hard to leave your country. I left from France, but I guess the feeling is the same no matter where you come from ! You'll be ok it's also exciting ! here my blog if you want to read my share of the process !
