how do you know your Local Office?

I am pretty sure that Charlotte, NC is my local office (that's where my bios were done)-but as I was looking through a copy of my 485, my lawyer had marked 'Fairfax,VA (aka Washington DC)' as my AOS location. So I really don't know where my interview will be! Did anyone get bios in a completely different place from where you were interviewed? Charlotte is 3 hours from me, but DC is 4. Thanks for any input!

cpinkley,

Application Support Centers are not District or Sub offices. Although sometimes they are co-located so as to appear indistinguishable, often they are not. It could be that Fairfax is your assigned DO or SO but that Charlotte is the closest ASC.

Look up the office locations on the USCIS web site to find out which offices serve your place or residence.

I almost asked this same question!

My husband had his biometrics taken at an office in San Diego, but for our interview we are going to Chula Vista, CA.

I changed my timeline to Chula Vista (which is part of San Diego county, but not the city of San Diego), because that is where our interview will take place.

I guess we are lucky, no long drives. The San Diego office was only 10-15 minutes from our home and the Chula Vista office is about 30 minutes.

Yep thats true. For example, here in TN there is an ASC in Nashville, which is where our biometrics appt is, but the nearest district office is in Memphis, which will be where our interview will be at. I'm hoping we'll get approved without an interview, because the Memphis office is over 3 hours away from me. :(
