thank you for your response so do you think the next step is to issue the visa

I had my immigrant visa interview in Nigeria on 28 January. After the interview, the consular officer told me my visa is approved. Handed me the collection slip and the USCIS slip for instructions on how to pay for the green card. I was handed a slip stating my case needs additional administrative processing.

pls what does this mean? I was told it is approved. Has anyone been in this situation before?

There's always additional Administrative Processing. They have to get papers together get the Visa issued. If you were told you are approved. there's nothing to worry about. Usually Visa is ready for pick up in 7 to 14 days. Congratulations.

Your Status on the Visa tracker will probably also say AP don;t freak out. It's normal.

Here is why I am freaking out.

I was handed a slip that says it needs further AP with the collection slip and the slip giving directives on how to pay for the Green card.

The consular didn't tell me to return so-so time to pick up but said the embassy will contact me. TOLD VISA IS APPROVED

I have been noticing since the beginning of year this seems to be a new process. Maybe something Lagos is starting. Since people see AP on website and freak. If you were told you were approved no need to be freakin out. Just watch the status of your visa tracker to issued.

Is there any new development on your case as regards the status? My wife went for her interview on the 5th of February and was also giving a green sleep with address where to collect her passport with visa, another green slip with instruction on how to pay $165 for a green card and a white paper where the CO marked AP. she was told by the CO that her case was approved and the CO said congratulation and welcome to America that her visa should be ready for pick up in 2.5 weeks or less. I know everything is well but just curious while the white paper with AP marked. Please let me know when your status changed to issue. Thanks.

Seems Lagos has started a new thing with this AP paper after approval. Have seen just in the last few weeks but everyone is getting Visa picked up. No wahala.

So don;t worry at interview if they say Approved. Visa is coming. Now I know in rare times something happened after interview and you are put in the other BAD AP. Maybe there was a call, and investigation came in no one can say. Just inquire and investigate.

Thanks, I contacted Mrs Tosh and she told me her status has changed to issued and that she will be picking up her visa soon. So I believe all is well and will get an issued status soon and also pick up the visa. Thanks for your concern and time.

I also had my interview on the 5th of feb' but it has been showing issued since on tuesday the 9th of feb. Can i pick it on friday the 12th tomorrow. Does any one know how many days after issued it can be collected. Many thanks

Call the Visa Center and ask if its ready for pickup. Usually issued is available in 1 to 2 days.

Thanks for your response, it will be 5 working days after interview and 4 days after issued by tomorrow. Can i have the number as the number i was given when i called they said I should wait for an email informing me if it is ready for collection. Just really in a hurry to have it in my hand. Thanks again
