So sometime ago I made a thread asking about the K1 process. Things have been difficult and it turns out the odds of getting approved without a picture are not good. Talking to my fiance in saudi and her father, we decided that the marriage will take place in Egypt(I can get into Egypt) and she can go back to Saudi. I will then apply from here in the U.S.A after my return. My questions: Would the egyptian marriage certificate be recognized by the Saudi embassy? and by the U.S embassy? Also how much more difficult is the cr1 process with Saudi? Can still file for her through Saudi arabia or would have to file everything in Egypt since that's where the marriage will take place? My fiance is Egyptian but she was born in Saudi so that makes her a Saudi foreign national. Thanks in advance.

Yes, as long as the marriage is legal in the country it took place in, it will be recognized by the US.

The embassy at which the interview will take place depends on what foreign address you put for your spouse. If you put her address in Saudi Arabia, then when it gets to the NVC stage, they'll send the petition to the US embassy in Saudi Arabia.

Thanks! Does the cr1 process take longer if the person being petitioned for is in the saudi arabia? Edited by Beenhasheegin

I don't believe so. I think that administrative processing (AP) takes longer for men from Muslim-majority countries* but, since its your wife, it shouldn't take too long.

*My uncle ended up in AP for about 1.5 years but, he did finally get his visa.
