what is it about 'illegal' that is so difficult to understand? It is more than tiresome to keep hearing people tell an audience about how their illegal friends or SOs are 'the hardest working, most sincere individuals on the planet...'...really? if they are so wonderful, why is it they cannot obey and respect the laws of MY country? If those of you who love them soooooo much think so highly of them, then join them on the airplane going back to where they came from and hold hands and sing Cumbaya together....accepting law breakers/visa cheats/tax cheats is just wrong...why do we have visa laws and border controls?

The cynic in me says that I imagine that illegals would work a lot harder than legal immigrants simply because they would be much easier to fire if they don't work twice as hard.

The cynic in you is absolutely correct (IMHO)

there are a number of ways to look at this.

Even the legals were great Americans.

Loophole I always thought is something unintentional and usually temporary.

Alternatively, a loophole relieves the stress on a fundamentally unworkable regulatory regimen.

If you have attempted to operate a small business in this country and follow all of the rules (AKA laws), then I have complete respect for your thoughts.

If not, then perhaps you might consider being sympathetic to those with somewhat more nuanced views of all of the "rules"
