Extending NOA2

Does the NOA2 actually "expire" or do they just put a date on it to keep things moving along? I am asking because my fiance is not moving here till September so we are trying to delay the "process" a little while longer. I have read it automatically extends? Is this true? If not what do I need to do to get it extended. She is from Canada and we will be dealing with Montreal. Thank you!

Where are you landed in the process? You have your NOA2 but have your started NVC, etc? Once the case gets opened at NVC it expires in a year of them not hearing from you unless extended by them (someone else can confirm maybe). That being said we got to NVC in July and just did our interview, so it can be a 6 month process to get through it. After that the visa they put in your passport is good for 6 months from the date of your medical.

If your NVC case is expiring they should extend it when they put the visa in the passport (it is on the Visa too) but I have seen once case on here where someone got to the border and they said it was expired and they had trouble.

So my advice would be to keep going in the process but you can move a bit slower. Again it depends where you already are. I just wouldn't want you to get to September and not be ready yet be cause an issue came up.

I am about 98% sure about the year of not hearing from you. Hopefully someone can confirm.

We are at packet 3 step. Still have not turned it in. If my noa2 has a feb date on it do we need to turn in packet 3 before that date? Or can we just hold off a bit longer.

yes, this is correct. Get your packet 3 response in as close to the deadline as possible, and then you'll be able to slow down for the interview, and your eventual POE. Getting there in September should be quite doable.
