My sponsor for my wife will be a married couple (she is a relative of mine).

They make enough to meet the income requirements.

Her income alone does not meet the requirements for their household size. His income alone does meet the requirements. Combined they have ore than enough.

She is my relative and I'm having her fill out the I-864 and he will do the I-864a,

My questions is, since her income doesn't meet the 125% guideline, does it matter which one files which form?

They filed taxes jointly.

Thanks

Yes, he will have to complete an I-864A.

Nope, it doesn't matter who files what. Just keep in mind that the joint sponsor will have more obligations and responsibilities than the household member. Be sure to let them know and they can decide who would like to be the joint sponsor.
