Hey guys,

Hope everyone is doing great with their visa journey.

Quick question:

I am just wondering if you enter with IR1 visa from Buffalo Peace Bridge what do they do in your passport?

Any kind of stamping? I was reading somewhere that someone got denied for EAD stamp, i dont know if it was for K1-K3 or CR1/IR1.

What kind of stamping they do in IR1 visa passport? Do they take any other documents beside from that brown envelope?

I am planning to enter very soon. Anything to keep in mind. Suggestion and advise will be great.

Thanks,

K

By the looks of things ur a CR-1 (or ir-1) thus no EAD stamp, you do not need 1, as u can work right away. The benefits of a cr-1/ir-1. At POE they wil take the brown enevlope from you, maybe ask a few basic questions, fingerprint you, and maybe take ur pic!! Its pretty harmless. As well they wil put a normal stamp of entry stamp on your passport. If you are eentering with a u-haul truck with ur possesions, they may or may not search it. I had a very basic inventory list . I crossed in Maine and was super easy, and took around 30 minutes.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
