Hi,

For people who have done the CR-1 Process through consular processing.

I believe Packet 3 asks you to obtain a police certificate for every country you have lived in for more than 1 year. is that correct?

I have been living in the US (on a F-1 visa) for 18 months. Will I need to obtain a police certificate from the USA as well?

Also, do you know how recent those police certificates have to be?

Thanks a lot,

Julien

Police certificates for the USA are not required as the DOS and USCIS does their own checks. It states this on the DOS/NVC website. :)

How recent the certificate for each country has to be depends on what is accepted by the embassy or consulate. Most of the time if it's within a year or the last time you lived there.

Please check the reciprocity table by country on the NVC website. :)
