Airline tickets

Were hoping that my fiance will be on her way here around the end of January or so, so I was just checking flights. (Birmingham,Uk to USA) Her POE will probably be Newark with a 4 hour layover and then a second fight to me. 4 hours should be enough for immigration I hope. So far I found that for a one way ticket is around $1000.00 dollars. Just checked a round trip ticket is around $700.00 dollars. This is for one stop, we done 2 stops before and it is too crazy to do for her. It looks like she should book a round trip ticket and not worry about the return and save a few hundred dollars.

Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this?

Thanks Heo Luoi. I just saw about the case where it messed up someone's AOS as the airline records stated they'd flown back out of the country! Worth knowing.

It's normal for the return to be cheaper, when you book it,make the return leg well in advance. I didn't bother cancelling the return leg but you might as well if you don't intend to use it.

You should try other airports too, my flight cost me about $400 in September, I was flying from Gatwick with Norvegian airlines, they offer cheap flights, and then got separate American airlines ticket from JFK to Dallas. Sorry if advice is irrelevant

I booked a return flight to save money when I came here. I arrived in Feb and booked the return for July. I thought I might be able to use it but I ended up not using it. I didn't bother canceling it but I came on a CR-1 so it didn't matter.

Try Iceland Air - they do one way flights for pretty cheap

Just checking again this morning for Feb. 1st. and round trips are around $628 with 1+ stops for the cheapest and click it to one way with same settings and it jumps to $1100 for the cheapest with 1+ stops and around $1600 for 1 stop.

A one stop for our situation with a 6.5 hour layover in Newark (POE) which is plenty of time for the immigration K1 visa pit stop is $660 round trip. We will just cancel the return flight and be happy with it.

Definitely look at Norwegian. They currently have Gatwck to Kennedy for £179 one way at the end of Jan. Definitely worth making the journey to Gatwck for. Doesn't include bags or food. Don't bother with the food on Norwegian. Bring your own. But even with a bag or two added it's still a better price.
