Hey Everyone,

this was a really good discussion about IMBRA and what constitutes a IMB. Although I have to confess, I still don't have a firm grasp of what the answer to the original question is.

What's a good "rule of thumb" to determine if a particular matchmaking site is considered IMB. Anyone clarify?

Thanks!

If you signed a contract or a waiver of any kind which allowed the company to divulge your personal information to other clients, then it's an IMB.

Kartea...I don't think the USCIS is asking anyone for evidence that they met on a dating site. Of course, if you have evidence, by all means, send it in. However, I haven't noticed any RFE's regarding that issue. The USCIS seems more preoccupied with whether the site is an IMB.

They really need to keep a list of the popular dating sites so that they don't have to send out so many RFE's.

Tahoma, thanks for this.

But, according to the RFE clauses that Kartea got about the 2 different ways sites are not considered IMB, it doesn't mention anything about private information. It seems all it says is if the site is for-profit, then it's an IMB.

Some RFE's explain it better than others. The USCIS should be more clear about this issue.

Hi I got a RFE 2 weeks ago, just write an email to the site, tell them you need to know if they are a IMB if not to state it on the letter. Read their terms and conditons and most likely they will say if they are or not a IMB. Because okcupid.com says it on its term and conditions.

good luck
