Hello. I have a few questions about my situation. First off I meet my wife about 10 years ago. She had been coming back and forth to and from canada. The fist time she stayed just under 6 months. The second time was only three weeks. But this last time she stayed and we got married. She was living here up until July 2015. Her mom had a stroke and she needed to go home. About a week later she was on a plane. Here sister purchased a one way ticket back to toronto. She stayed the for about 2 months. I purchased another one way plane ticket back to home, which is in atlanta. When she arrived at the airport she was denied entry. She was not banned for any length of time from coming back to the United states. She had to prove, I guess with a one way plane ticket, that she was stable here.

The customs agent that denied her entry, who was very nice said, it might be easier to prove you are just visiting america. I guess he meant just coming down for pleasure. This last time she did stay beyond the 180 day limit, but that was by bus. I recently made a appointment to see a lawyer, because now, when this is all said and done, I don't want to have to worry about anything, what is the best route I should go. Please help.

sounds like your wife is wanting to live in the USA.

With a one way ticket they want proof the Canadian will RETURN to Canada, not that they're stable in the USA. Visiting is for visiting, not living.
