Can I take a battery into the embassy?

My phone battery life is pretty dire these days, I usually take a portable charger with me where I'll be out all day without plugs. Will these be allowed? Many moons ago I had problems taking a battery pack onto a plane, so I just want to be sure as I'd hate to have to dispose of it, it was quite expensive! Thanks.

I took a not so small, 3-device 2600mAh power bank into my interview as I was hanging around London all day and still needed to get the overnight train back to Scotland. Also, straight through security with no issues. Good luck for your interview :)

Thanks. :) I'll be flying back to Scotland that night but I will be using my phone a lot to navigate around London so it'll definitely need a charge in the afternoon I reckon.

In case you haven't already, it's worth getting a ticket for the underground the minute you get there... saves a lot of juice on using your GPS to walk through the streets. The Embassy has a nifty map here showing the closest stations. Good luck! (it's easy really)

Yes just don't take any kind of padlock, I took my gym bag when applying for my daughters passport renewal and had one attached to my bag and I had to put it in the bin lol.

Not a problem, I had my hand luggage with me, chargers, kindles, tablet, all the usual toys

It went through the airport scanner thingy they have at the Embassy no worries at all

When you say hand luggage, do you mean as in a carry on bag? It says on their site no backpacks so I'm trying to figure out how to pack for an overnight stay with just a moderately large handbag!

I took a messenger bag which was large enough to carry the essentials. I saw other larger bags in the embassy. Or the other option to place in the pharmacy near the embassy for a small charge. Like anything it might be which security is on at the time. With recent events I'm sure they are being extra vigilant.

Our hotel stored our luggage for us (after check out) while we went to the embassy. You can also store things at Gould's Pharmacy for a small fee. It's right by the embassy on N. Audrey street. They open around 7:30 am.

In my experience with this at every stage it was more worrying than the actual day. Prepare know your application and you will be fine!
