I just found out today that the airport in manila will be closed on November 18-19 for the APEX Summit.

I booked my fiancés flight with Air Asia for November18th about a month ago and i am just finding out today that she is going to have to leave early.

I am going to try and get her on a flight today so that she can get her medical done on the 17th and she can go back on the 20th for results.

But I am wondering if Air Asia should have done more to inform people of the canceled flights.

If we did not try to check and see if everything was correct we would not have known.

She has her interview at the Embassy on the 20th

100s of flights were cancelled and all airlines have announced this on there website. Re-booking should be free. There are flights, the airport will not be closed but there will be limited flights this week due to the APEC summit. Expect delays too. They will freeze all flights when an APEC delegate arrive or departs the country.

Check with Air Asia website, they should announced flights numbers that are cancelled. In my case, the airline notified me and gave me re-booking options.

The Holidays on Nov. 18-19 was announced months ago; but government offices, schools and private sectors have announced business closure on extended dates due to numerous road closures and traffic re-routing within the metro. If your fiancee is not from Metro Manila, she have a hard time getting around this week.

· 18 and 19 November 2015 as Special (NON-WORKING) days in the National Capital Region (NCR);

· 17 and 20 November 2015, work in the government offices are suspended in NCR and declared as school holidays.

I suggest change everything for next week.

US Embassy will also be closed the whole week.

The U.S. Embassy will be closed on November 16-20, 2015 due to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC) Meetings. The Embassy will re-open for business on November 23, 2015. U.S. citizens with an emergency during this period should contact the Embassy at (+632) 301-2000 and ask to be connected with the Embassy Duty Officer.

Thanks for the information, but we can't change everything for next week because we will not have time if the medical goes wrong. i am just going to fly her in ASAP so she can start the medical tomorrow morning.

Good luck with getting a confirmed flight now.

Since your fiance is not from Metro Manila, she should be prepared of the traffic chaos. Here below are the road closures and re-block/ re-routing of traffic. Re-check alternate routes to St. Lukes.

She will NOT finish her medical in one day, normally they will ask you to comeback the next day for the vaccines and results.

It seems like all the airlines are price gouging the price for a flight now is three times normal. Air Asia people just hang up on you when you ask to change the flight.

i will never use them again.

Another thing to be aware of - you need to allow 5 to 7 days AFTER the physical exam (which takes 2 days, as mentioned above) before you can count on the information being available for access at the Embassy. You would likely have had to reschedule the Embassy Interview anyway. And don't forget to schedule the CFO. Whether it is Manila or Cebu, they are already booking into the second week of December, possibly later by now. (I haven't checked in a week.) Regarding the CFO, you can do it right away, and then get the sticker later, or wait until your fiance has the visa, and plan for the CFO after that. There is a time vs. money trade-off, as so often happens in life.

Good luck.

Thank for for updating your timeline. (My Assistant, then edit/add my timeline.)

PAL keeps canceling my bookings and they have increased the price of the flights twice since I have been sitting at my computer.

When I called them they told me that it's my bank, my bank said that as soon as they received the charge it was authorized then exactly 2 min later they would reverse it.

So basically all the airlines are full of sh*t right now.

I went into the Embassy system and rescheduled the interview for December 10th. Well it's been four years that i first met her i guess to add a few more weeks will not hurt.

Now that I have been sitting here for hours trying to get her on a plane I am behind in my work and really just want to go to sleep.

Thanks for your help
