while submitting DS.260, the entry of date of marriage was wrong. Marriage in the church was 1998 but registered it in 2003 in the sub.registrar's office.

while filling DS 260, I happened to give that 2003 instead of 1998 because I thought that is the official date . When my sister was filing the case 12 yrs ago, she entered it as 1998 (correct date ). so presently there is conflict in the dates of marriage. Can some one please help me how to correct it ? Thanks a lot.

After you submit the DS-260, the only way to change something is to call NVC.

Here's the number: 603-334-0700

It'll take many many tries to get through.

Tip: If you hear the voice and no ringing, hang up right away. It means they have too many callers. If you hear ringing, it means you've gotten through and they'll put you on a queue.

Hi Teeak, thanks for your reply. In fact my document submission is taken care of by a lawyer in US. But I feel he missed this dates at the beginning. Can I call NVC directly or only through the lawyer? If I can call NVC, what reference should I give to them? pl. direct me.

Yep, if you're the petitioner or beneficiary then you can call them directly.

Once you call they will ask for your case number, petitioner's name, and beneficiary's name and DOB in order to verify.

After they pull up your case, you can let them know you need to inform them of a change on your DS-260.

Thanks teeak. I will try to call them. you mean case number and receipt number are one at the same?

I know a ten digit number as receipt number. Also, some one has told me this can be corrected during interview. Is it right?

Do you think this is going to be a big issue for case completion and interview? I am bit concerned. If I am not taking much of your time, please help me

Case number is the number that starts with the first 3 letters of your embassy. Like my embassy is Dhaka, so case number starts with DHK, followed by ten numbers.

I'm not sure if you can correct it during the interview but, it wouldn't hurt to call and ask. Did your lawyer advise you that you can correct at the interview?

Mine starts with EAC. Yes, that is what he is telling. But I don't fully trust that. He is in US and I am in India. My sister has given the documents with him. so I am trying to find out the solution other than what he has suggested. He is not revealing exactly how much he has done. now he says the second part is going to be sent. I don't .understand. Is DS 260 submission at one time or part by part? Please bear with me for asking more. Thanks.

No, that's not your case number.

EAC is your receipt number which you get from USCIS. The case number, you get that from NVC and it should be on the welcome letter.

Nope, DS-260 has no separate parts. The entire form is submitted only once. Maybe he meant he's going to submit the second set of documents?

I don't know if I would be okay with a lawyer who doesn't reveal what exactly he's doing with my case since I like to be involved. That's why I did everything myself for my aunt and uncle's cases without any assistance from a lawyer.

Can you please give some light on what exactly the second set of documents you meant?

Is there anything more to be submitted after this second set?

How long do you think to hear about the case completion once the second set is submitted?

Any way we trusted him for a better service and thinking there would be less chance of making mistake in document submission.

You decision was absolutely right.

So, the first thing you do is choose your agent and pay your AOS fee. After that you can submit all your financial and supporting documents, pay your IV fee and then submit your DS-260.

Or you could choose to submit all your documents after the DS-260 is submitted.

Maybe your lawyer is sending the supporting documents separately from the financial ones? Although you're really supposed to send these altogether.
