Good day my vj friends. I have a question that is bugging me and am confused. I applied for a tourist visa sometime in april 2014 and two days to the interview noticed the person that helped me fill the ds160 made a mistake in my marital status. He put married while i am single. And ended up sick so i didn't bother going for the interview. Now i have a us citizen fiancee that wants to file for k-1 visa for me and i thought of it. I know i called the guy that filled the ds160 for me then to retract the application but i don't know if he did. What can i do at this moment? If he didn't retract it will it still have my information as married there? Should i fill another ds160 correcting this error? How will this affect this process now?

From what I know you will have to file another DS-160 regardless, seeing as it appears to be a different visa.

I`m not sure what you`ll have to do with your old application though, I don`t understand why you wouldn`t bother to go to the interview cause you`re sick without calling and asking to reschedule, it`s supposed to be one of your biggest days on the whole visa trip, but maybe that`s just me.

Either way good luck

I'm sure you will have problems with this, but that's just my opinion. This is actually a fraud tactic that is used when applying for visitor visas. People will say they are married and/or have a child to make it look like they will be returning to their country of origin.

I am assuming that you were never married before. You are responsible for the information provided on the DS-160, regardless of who filled it out. I would suggest you beef up your proof of evidence and maybe even have your fiance attend the interview with you.

The DS-160 for your K-1 will ask about any previous visa applications and the result of those applications. My fiance also had a visitor visa petition in the past, and we listed the AA# and the reason for refusal.

My suggestion is have your fiance meet with a lawyer to discuss this issue before submitting the petition. A consultation can be affordable and is very valuable. See what the lawyer suggests you do about that first DS-160 before proceeding.

I was suppose to attend a business conference and i was going to spend a long time in the hospital. There was no point rescheduling because the business conference would be over. That was my reason for wanting to travel at that time. So thats why i let it go

High possibility that consular will asked about your unattended tourist interview, most likely reason why you did not attend or did not notify or call them why you cannot make it to the interview...Best of luck on your journey :)
