I got the consulate decision 2 weeks after nvc notification they forwarded it to embassy

True.

My embassy was amazingly fast. I received the under review email in 3 days, and 2 business days later received a response of the expedite approval.

if the original I-864 was sent to the NVC, can we bring the copy of the I-864 tout the interview?

The local embassy/consulate will notify you shortly after receiving the case.
They either mail you the P4 letter or call you.
In my case, the consulate called and asked me to pick up the letter myself (mailing was an option but I couldn't wait).

Keep checking the status change on CEAC.
You should also have all the necessary documents ready for the interview by now.
Some countries tend to have harsher interviews so be well prepared.
Good luck ^_^

What is the next step?

I submitted my expedite request (medical reason) December 15, got a response,

"The National Visa Center (NVC) received your request to expedite processing of this case. To process this request we need additional information. Please resubmit your request with the following:

Name of the petitioner;

Name, date and country of birth of the beneficiary;

Beneficiary's foreign address and two foreign telephone numbers.

You can email this information to nvcexpedite@state.gov."

I resubmitted everything with the additional information they asked for. Hopefully I will hear something soon. I sent the expedite request right after they told me my case arrived at NVC even without a case number yet.
