If family reunification is the most important thing why not move there

well I can't work there. There are no jobs there. There is no opportunity for my son there. His best opportunity would be to grow up here. Funny you should say that because actually I do, except it's 1100 miles away due to a divorce from his dad and his father. Unfortunately it's the way it has to be right now as hard as it is for both of us.

It comes down to what you can prove / demonstrate about how you (and your spouse) have lived your lives. Blame shifting to the "government" really doesn't help you achieve your goal.

Have you been financially supporting (in a meaningful way) your family in the DR? Have you listed yourself as married on tax forms, insurance forms, etc.? Do you participate in your family's lives as much as possible given that you are living and working in the US? How does your wife represent herself, married or single? These are the types of things that you would want to show to demonstrate a bona fide marriage.

Its called sacrifice. thousands of mothers do let their children go for their own good. However, your position must be respected.
