VISA approved 1 month ago still no passport!

My husbands immigrant visa was approved in Sto Dgo, Dominican Republic August 20. They needed a legalized birth certificate so the next day we took it to Galeria 360 which is a place that deals with the US embassy documents. We handed that in along with his passport and were told that he would be emailed when it's ready. It's been a month and a week already and I called the embassy they sent me an email that it's going under administrative process, what does this mean? I want my husband to come home but it's taking foreverrrrr ????

Probably because you had to submit a document after the fact, your application is just going through the final stages of AP before they can mail out the VISA. As long as it says on the CEAC website that it's been "ISSUED" then I wouldn't fret. I just asked a simular question wondering about the generic message on the CEAC and learned that sometimes these things take awhile longer. I would wait another week and try contacting them again for an update.

I'm not sure how long the Embassy in the Dom Republic takes for VISA's.

Thank you! I did check the ceac website and it says "ready" and it explains that we are ready for the interview, I guess they don't really update that well enough since our interview was August 20, I'm honna give them a couple of days to call again, it's so frustrating....

Is the date of your "ready" status today or within the past two days or so?

Your petition returns to the "ready" status after "AP", then it goes to "ISSUED"

If your status date was today that it says "ready" you can expect for your hubby to have his visa very soon possibly by the beginning of next week

When you say you were approved, did they give you a 221g form also?

If they gave you a 221g form you are in AP and it could take up to 60 days from the date that any document that you had to send them is received , unfortuantely I know of this process all too well as my "60" days ended up being 122 days.

Wow that's horrible, I have been waiting for so long and now something so simple might take that long too, yes they gave us that form for the "missing" birth certificate. His birth certificate was there but it was so much paperwork he didn't bother to look and now we are stuck this is so disappointing

Does your status on UStravel docs say "the embassy still has your document" or "there is no record for the passport number"

In ustraveldocs it says no record when I put his passport number and on ceac it still says "ready"

Ustraveldocs for DR from my own personal experince was absolutely worthless. they are nothing more than a glorified answering system. To get a real answer you have to demand they escalate your inquiry to what the refer to as "POST"

its rather strange that your ustravel docs says no record and CEAC says ready.

I used my local senator to move things along and it worked well for me. A senator can not make them make a decision any faster but what a congressional inquiry is received on a case your packet goes to a special congressional inquiry group where you get a new set of eyes on your file and usually a better answer on your actual status!

Are you in NYC?

Yes I am in NYC! During this whole process I did go to the senator 2 before and I think for this specific issue I will be going again! Si I would have to call them and ask them to escalate my case to post?

yes for sure have them escalate it.

Did you use Senator Gillibrands office? Her office has a pretty big staff that are really good and pestering the Embassy there in DR
