Traveling with AP/EAD while waiting for GC

Good morning!!!

I want to go to Dominican Republic with my husband this week but I didn't receive my green card yet. In the website say that my green card was mailed to me on September 2. Today's September 14 I don't have my GC :'( so I was wondering if I can travel with my AP/EAD combo. I'm going for 5 days and my husband just came from the marine corps boot camp.. Is there any problem with that??

Wow, bad timing. I was in the same situation - plans to travel internationally right as the GC was in USPS limbo. Unfortunately, once the green card is issued, your AP/EAD card is no longer valid (whether you received the green card or not). So yes, you have a big problem.

Does the tracking number give you any idea where it is?

They didn't give me any tracking number. :(

In the website just say this

That's all the website says

You should be able to return with your AP as long as it has not expired. (The airline will let you board because you have AP, and US will let you in when you get here as they can look up your green card.) But it would be better to get an I-551 stamp if possible before you travel.

Well I went to the USCIS office In New York and they told me that I can not use the AP. That I need a stamp but they can not give me one because I'm not traveling for an emergency! That I need to bring documents that proof the emergency so they can give the stamp.

"Cannot" as in what will the problem be? As long as CBP lets you in you're fine, and USCIS cannot speak for CBP.
