Hello. My wife (now, but not at the time of initial visit) was visiting the U.S on a B-2 visa from Canada. She can stay here legally until December 2015 (checked her i-94 status).

While visiting, we crossed paths, fell in love and got married. Modern day love story!

We are in process of sending her forms in to be processed, but have a question. I am planning on taking her out of the country for a honeymoon while her papers are pending (she still has a valid Canadian passport).

I have been reading on the forums, if I read correctly, we will need to file an Advanced Parole with the AOS and wait to hear back BEFORE traveling, correct? I'm not trying to get her banned from the U.S. nor forfeit the AOS process..

We have the following documents ready to send off: i-485, i-130, g-1145 and g-325a.

I am thinking about getting the i-765 (Employment Authorization) and Advanced Parole filled out and sent with the AOS. Is that a smart idea?

Thanks!

Yes, that is a very smart idea. The fees for those forms are waived when filed with a pending I-485 and she will receive an EAD/AP combo card that will allow her to work, and travel abroad and re-enter the US while waiting for her green card to be approved.

Thanks for the tip! I will certainly do that. Might as well do all of them at once. :)

It takes almost 3 months to get EAD/AP after applying so you will have to hold off on your honeymoon for a bit.

That's good to know! It will be around Feb/Mar! I better get on it.
