Does anyone know if a fee is required the day of the interview if an approved CR1 is granted ? I thought I had read somewhere that there was a fee for the visa.

Another question for the day of the interview (Sept. 28th). realized I only have the 1040A...the one sheet summary of my husband's taxes for 2014. It is too late now for me to get the entire return but did anyone here bring the full return or just the top sheet?

That is the only thing I can see them giving me a 221g over.....

I can't answer this question as my husband collects workers compensation benefits from a workplace accident - he doesn't file taxes.

I didn't bring any of my old passports and they never asked for them. They only wanted to see my current passport, so I wouldn't worry about it!

Cool! Sounds great. Have you held a passport before that you traveled internationally on? The only things I did on that one was fly to San Diego for a week over New Year's '06 and when I was in Ukraine for 2.5 weeks in May of '08. If that's the case, that really helps my mind being at ease. :)

When was your interview if you don't mind me asking?

Please post screenshots where you are seeing that.

Maybe it is something very specific to your case.

This is what I saw in my visa interview application/payment confirmation e-mail: post-209587-0-09394200-1442867297_thumb.jpg

It appears to be worded as something for all visa types and not just my specific case as I have used the same passport through the entire process. I am also wondering if it is a file e-mail they have not updated in a bit as there, it only mentions one photo whereas literally everywhere else it says two.

Oh yeah that def sounds across the board and not specifc, most likely a baseline and then each consulate makes the requirements a bit tougher, like what you said about the one photo and Montreal wanting two.

It could also be if they need to verify times that you went places, like you claim you went somewhere on the DS-160 and they don't have it in the system, they may ask for the old passport to prove you did enter legally since you claim you entered.

My fiance doesn't have his old one, it only has two times of him coming here, but he also knows the dates of those times. If they ask him for his old one I'll let you know!

Yeah my very first Canadian passport had a bunch of international travel. My current one only has some travel, but like I said, it doesn't really matter as long as you have your passport that will be valid 6 months from the date that you will enter the US.

My interview was on September 16th.

I got a tax return question too. When I submitted the AOS, the 2014 tax transcript (what you would get from the IRS website) wasn't yet available, as we submitted the AOS around tax deadline time. I assume now it is probably available - do I need to bring it, even though it wasn't submitted at the time?

My fiance had his interview and it went well up until the Affidavit of support. Basically I'm unemployed and my mom makes 24,000 a year, she was to be the cosponsor. Even though she makes above the HHS poverty lines for a household of two (19,912), they told him he needs another cosponsor, gave him back his passport and a 212(g) stating that all is required is a joint sponsor meeting the guideline.

We provided Tax return, W2, employer letter, and paystubs. She made 22,000 last year, and will make 24000 this year, with a bonus of 3000 at the end of the year.

From what I could tell, they are worried he'll come here and end up doing nothing and possibly that my mom supports me (which she doesn't, my dad supports me, two separate households, divorced for 16 years). So they want to make sure all bases are covered.

He tried to show them his savings account showing he has about 17000 in savings right now as a response to "how is she going to support you before you can work?" but the CO didn't want to look at it. He told him that "he didn't need to see it".

He said that the CO over all was pretty serious, but I guess when he saw that my fiance was devastated, he told him that it's alright, everything else is there and in order, we just need another cosponsor and tried to reassure him.

At the moment my dad is talking to my grandparents who make 60,000$ a year to see if they will do the I-134 for him. Only reason we didn't use them is because we didn't think we'd need to prove more money. If for some reason 60,000$ isn't good enough then I don't know what is.

I am sorry, but this seem quite fatal mistake. You better should have US earnings with a long term job. Canadian savings will not get your fiance enter US on K-1 visa.

I'm the USC, as far as I could tell from this site and others that even if you're unemployed either due to job loss or in school, you can still use a cosponsor that meets the HHS poverty line requirements. The cosponsor simply has to meet these requirements by themselves. That's what we did, we used my mom as a cosponsor. My mom makes 4000$ over the requirements for a household of two. Other than consulates that do not take cosponsors, having a job isn't a requirement as long as you have the right cosponsors.

Some people have shown savings to prove that they can support themselves in the time coming in on a fiance visa, there's been more than one for Montreal, so that's the only reason he wanted to show him. We can easily live off of that money for the 90 days he can't work and have several thousand left to boot.

Overall though, he wasn't told I need to have a job, but simply to find another cosponsor who ...well meets the HHS poverty lines, but in reality we need one that exceeds it by a high amount, then send in an I-134 with supporting documents which we'll be doing. We'll be using someone that doubles the poverty guidelines for 125%.

Just received letter of interview from MTL: Interview dated on 20th Oct 2015.... Need to pack up for traveling. I m from Manitoba please guide me which is cheapest and good place near the MTL Embassy. As well as I have learned from this forum that Dr. Lyndon takes average 3 days and Dr. Randell Lee takes 10 days ... no body talked about Dr. Ian Zatzman.... My family friend lives very near to Dr. Randell Lee location but 10 days seems very tough. Please advice. I need to make short visit as possible.

One important question ... as my vaccination was done out of the country and have no record with me please advice which doctor is better and how to follow it.

I did a little review about Zatzman last month. From what my fiance said he was very nice and it went pretty quick. The only people that weren't that friendly were the people who do the blood work. He liked the doctor though, it wasn't super busy when he went in, but he thinks he might of just been lucky.

If you have no record of your vaccinations then before you go to your medical you can get a blood titer test done that will show what you've been vaccinated for via checking your blood. What ever it doesn't show in your system, you can go ahead and get. Don't forget boosters as well. My fiance needed his Tetanus booster (You need one every 10 years), Dr Zatzman gave it to him at the appointment. If you can get everything done BEFORE the appointment, titer test and vaccinations, then that's even better. Just bring proof of vaccination and/or titer test to the medical.

Although Dr Lyndon had my results ready within 2 days, but staff made sure my appointment was no later than 1 week before the interview. And even on medical day Dr Lyndon asked me why I came so late, I explained it was because I live in US and can't take that long of vacation from medical to interview. Other than that, it was smooth and fast. The lab was closing that day at noon, so they wanted me to rush to the lab first, before going down for the xray.

Also since you don't have vaccination record, the doctor might get you blood test for all the vaccines, and results might not come as fast as 2 days, that was for me.

Cheapest place I think is Travelocity hotel. But make sure you research parking before. I ended up paying $24 for parking under university building. The parking in front of the embassy on the day of interview was $10. But on the next day for passport pickup it was $17. If that lot allows overnight parking, just go for it. You will be out of Montreal right after the interview without hitting any rush hour traffic. Trust me that rush hour of Montreal is brutal.
