Hi,

I've read that some of you were having a hard time at customs when they had been visiting the US a few times within a short period of time. I am going to visit my fiance for another 3 weeks in the end of April while I spent 2 weeks in the end of January (I know, those damn french have too many vacation). I was just curious on what questions you can be asked and what should you really answer. Should I say that I'm visiting my girlfriend? Or just a friend? Shall I say anything?

I was just curious to hear some other people's experience...

Thanks for the answers.

Fred

Hi,

thanks for the answer but I think I wasn't clear enough. We are not going to be filing the K1 application until I arrive yet, I wanted to know if they can ask something because it would be my second visit to the US within 2 months.

I always had trouble but the best advice is stay calm, dont panic and just always tell the truth, call him a boyfriend but not a fiance.

I visited about 9 times before actually moving here and about 5 of those times I had hassle, but I stayed for much longer than what you are. Just say your visiting your girlfriend for X amount of days and that it. Shouldn't be an issue!

Hi Fred,

well, some aussies have "too many vacation" as well. :) Jan - Apr last year I visited 3 times! No problem. Then we filed K-1 in July last year and I visited again over Christmas.

My first US trip ever (Jan '06) was to Hawaii and that was my first meeting with Aaron. The CO there did ask me if I was coming to get married in Hawaii and I was like - NO!!! But she did ask for Aaron's phone number and she did call him. Of course he was outside waiting for me.

Less than a month after that I flew to SF, for abt 2 wks. I was "visiting friends" - he wasn't really a boyfriend yet, and his parents who I met in Hawaii were friends as well. So...

Another month later I went back for 2 more weeks (Easter holiday). That time I was visiting "my boyfriend and his family" and this Christmas I just said I was visiting my fiance (K-1 in process, and I had docs to prove I was returning - but wasn't asked for anything).

Each time questions sounded more like routine: purpose of your visit? None of them made a big deal out of it!

This helps? Relax... enjoy your visit... you "vacationing french" :)

I129F process:

EAD - 18 October '07 - hard copy: valid from the date of 1st notice of card production

SSN - 30 October '07 (married name), applied Oct 18, same day I got my EAD

DL - 11 December '07 - driving test at DMV San Francisco. Yay! Now I can drive on the "wrong" side of the road!
