Hi all,

Because my income for the past 3 years has been foriegn earned and I don't start my new job in the States until next week, I need a co-sponsor for my I-134 and my father has agreed to do so.

I have some questions about what annual income to use and what kind of evidence he will need to submit. To start, let me give you some background on my father's situation.

My father files his taxes jointly with my mother. He has 2 jobs. One job he is employed as a regular employee. There is a W-2 but there is nearly 0 salary as it is all deducted for health insurance. His second job is a self-employed business owner. His self-employed job is where all of his money comes from. My mother is also a business owner of a different business and self-employeed as well so her income is included on the 1040.

My questions are:

What income does my father write on the I-134 Line 7 and what evidence does he need to submit with it? Because the pay listed on the 1040 is joint does he use the W2 from his one job and the Schedule C for his business?

My fathers income alone is enough to meet the requirement of support, but does my mother also need to fill out a I-134 because she filled taxes joinly with my father?

Thank you in advance for the help.

first - are you the US citizen?

second - if so, you still needed to and should now, fill out IRS tax statements claiming the foreign money earned

We lived 2 years in Japan working for IBM and did income taxes

immigration may ask about this/ this is reason i am telling you

your father should put his income / you do not state if buisness is jointly owned by both parents / so clarify that issue and the experienced on this site will give you best advice

Yes, I am a US citizen. I do have IRS tax statements with my foreign earned income reported but my adjusted gross income on my 1040 is $0. All of my income for the past 3 years was paid in Japanese Yen to my Japanese bank account. I have already made copies of my tax returns to include as evidence for my I-134.

My father is the sole proprietor of his business. My mother is also the sole proprietor of her business but the income from both of those businesses are on the same 1040 but seperate on the Schedule Cs.
