We got ours issued 4 days after the interview, but since my wife lived in Da Lat, we did not get it 7 days after via EMS. If you plan to accompany your fiancee to her interview and wait to fly back with her, I think it is safe to plan the return flight 2 wks after the interview.

@pfrederiksen: Congrats on your approval!

She will be approved. Don't sweat it. I believe you can book ticket without a valid Visa. All you need is her VN passport # (and they don't even require it when you book online, if I remember it correctly).

Here is what I did. I know it was a risky move but we saved a lot of money by doing it. I booked and paid for my wife's plane ticket 2 months in advance. I bought and paid $715 for her one-way ticket when I bought mine, which was 2 months before her interview. The cost for her one-way ticket, if purchased 2-3 weeks after the interview (and assuming that she would be approved), would have been $1,595. So, in the end, we saved about $880. I figured that, in the worst-case scenario that she would not be approved, I would only lose $715. But if we had waited and bought the ticket after she was approved, we would have spent $880 more. We were lucky that she did get approved. LOL

She said it took about 2 minutes. They asked how long we've been together and how many times I've visited. He looked at the photos and said he loved them. Visa approved.

Based on your info, your interview wont be until late october probably (if not later). Embassy will say the visa can take up to 3 weeks to get issued. I'd wait until you at least have an interview date.

I bought her ticket for 3 weeks after the interview to be safe. Once she has the visa in her hand, I will call and have the airline change the ticket.

How'd you manage to get an interview less than a month after NVC?! It's usually about 3 after you do your ds-160. Your whole process looks like it went really quick..It's been a year for me.

Anyways, I bought it before.

once you paid for the visa and it is approve you can log back into the visa, and schedule for interview.

Note, I saw available interview as early as this month August, but I did not choice, as my Fiancee still need to get medical exam ,, and I plan to fly back for the interview.
