Good day friends,I have a friend who got married to a Nigerian in Nigeria and then she moved back to the US.The marriage didnt work out and she filed for a divorce while she was still here in the US and the spouse being in Nigeria refused to send down the divorce certitcate and she wants to gwt married here in the USA..and she is told she needs the divorce papers befiore she can get married again.But now the guy has refused to send down the papers.

What should she do about a situation like these..Someone please help..You response will be highly appreciated... thank you

Normally she can file for the divorce and send him a copy of the petition. He has to respond to the petition to the courts. If he does respond he has to appear in court to attest the divorce proceedings. Do you see him coming. Once the court date is set she can explain her situation to the Judge. he will see that the husband has not appeared and that they live in 2 different countries and grant her divorce. I did mine by myself with no lawyer. only thing complicates these cases Is if they have shared assets and children good luck
