Good afternoon everyone.

Just a quick update. My wife and I had a succesful move back to Chicago and just came back from New Orleans. We are in the midst of unpacking and seeing friends and family.

What I am wanting to know is how long will it take for me to get my Green Card and SSN - I requested for it when I did my original paperwork?

We crossed the border on July 17th.

Thanks,

The SSA says wait three weeks, and if you do not receive your number, contact them. We foolishly followed their directions. I would call your local office to see if you number/card has been generated. If not, go to the office with all of your paperwork and have them generate your number/card. It will take less than a week.

The green card arrived in the mail at about 7 weeks after POE. We paid the green card fee ($165) before POE. You should check your ELIS status where you can follow your green card production.

Have you read the ELIS thread in the general immigration discussion forum?

Just saw that forum now I will definitely check it out.

I checked my status it shows in the stage of "Optimized".

I got my green card in a month, but my SSN took a month and a half. They had to "verify" my identity with immigration. I am guessing it just depends...
