So I got my appointment letter last Thursday and usually leave everything until the last minute but as this interview is thee most important thing in my life right now I thought I best get prepared.

Booked my coach tickets. After spending 9 hours on a coach there and 9 back for my medical and doing it all on one hot and sweaty day I thought it best that I go a day early and book into a hotel relatively near by as my interview is at 9am.

Hotel that I wanted wasn't available that night so I thought what the heck and upscaled slightly spending a bit more on a nice hotel. I was quite proud of myself for doing this with over two weeks to go, paper work all in order and ready, just a few photos as a proof of relationship needed taking to the photo place then I'm good to go.

Walked out of the house and the phone rang it was the embassy telling me I had to reschedule my appointment. Moving it further into August :( gutted.. Then realised that my coach and hotel are both non refundable or amendable!

I guess I could of stood in dog poop to make my day worse :)

Might be worth contacting them and telling them that you have already booked travel and hotel, and that they're non refundable. That might have an effect?

The lady on the phone didn't say and I did not want to come across as the awkward guy lol. Well whilst typing this message out a lovely lady via the hotel I've booked in phoned and told me to to worry she will change my date and all I have to pay is the difference. So that was a nice start to the day at least :) Original date was the 10th Aug

I still say contact the Embassy and tell them that you have already booked coach tickets and a hotel. It's not you that's being awkward, it's them after already giving you a date and then changing it.

Normally if they need to change interview dates, they ask people based closer to London as it's easier for them to change plans (less likely to need a hotel/ long distance train/ flight etc.)

What date did they want to change to the interview to?

I phoned Booking.com and explained the situation to the lady on the phone that I had made a non amenable booking and she was awesome. She phoned the hotel whilst I was on the phone and explained it to them they said it's fine as long as I pay the difference. At 20£ I wasn't going to grumble then she wished me luck at my interview.

exactly the same thing happened to me!! I was supposed to have an interview on 10th of August, I flew from the US for it only to find out that it was resheduled for 30th of July and I have already missed it!
