Name Check Question

My husband and I went to our interview 11/15/06. We were told that we were approved pending the name check. I know I'm in no position to complain given that many have been waiting MUCH longer then we have, but this is still horrible. We have put our lives on hold waiting for this greencard. My husband wants to attend a flight school in Florida (he was a pilot in Chile), we are currently in NJ. The school won't let him apply or even talk to anyone there till he physically has the card. This means we're sitting here not knowing when we can move or if we'll ever get to move. And because he has a pilot's license in Chile, he has to travel back there to get a medical record. Again can't do anything till we get that greencard. It's really annoying. I want to know if there's anyone I could call or email to get more info.

Also I485 was last "updated" 12/2/06 and it says that the case was sent to Missouri Service Center. Does anyone know how to check their processing times, I don't see Missouri listed as a service center in that drop-down thing on the website.

Any kind of reply would be greatly appreciated, even mean ones, at least then I probably will stop worrying and being a baby about this!!!

The Missouri Service Center (MSC) is also known as the National Benefits Center or NBC. You should be able to find the timelines at the USCIS website.

A lot of us see the message on our case status with USCIS as reading the file at Missouri. I personally am not sure what this means. For a long time I was sure my husband's file was in the Pittsburgh District Office. I am now no longer sure. On my next communication with our AO I intend to ask where the file is.

I understand completely what you mean about a life on hold. We've had difficulty finding a mortgage. We've had to pay for a second EAD renewal. We are now wondering if my husband should travel outside the country - we are moderatly considered that his re-entry into the US as a "parolee" could adversely effect his status.

I hadn't even thought about a mortgage. If we have no word this summer we will probably stay put in NJ and hopefully buy a house. I'm not mentioning the mortgage problems to my husband, he's upset enough about possibly having to give up on his dream job.

We don't want to apply for an AP for the same reasons, well that and the fees.

Does anyone think that the fact that he had a pilot's license in Chile could be what's causing the delay with the name check?

So was I! But I think that after 9/11 they are being extra cautious with who they'll give a pilots' license to.

One more question

When should I write to a Congressman or Senator?

It's been three months since interview date and seven since biometrics appointment.

Is now to soon?

My husband thinks that call or inquiring may help,

Please help, before my husband drives me crazy, he's very impatient!!

I'm not. Even before 9/11, to go to pilot school you needed to be a PR. Then 9/11 happened, some flight schools were letting people in visas take classes, etc. So I'm not surprised at all that they won't even talk to him without his green card. I can't even imagine the repercussions/consequences that the FL flight school that trained the 9/11 attackers illegally faced afterward.
