U.S. Passport baby, flying with UK passport mum

I'm visiting my family in the UK for 3 weeks with my 5month old baby. My husband won't be coming as it's just far too expensive to all go & he's self employed so doesn't get paid vacation time either

I am on my 2 year permanent resident card & my baby has a U.S. Passport, my anxieties are, (aside from travelling alone with a baby etc):

1) Entering the UK - can I still go through UK residents even though my son doesn't have a UK passport?

2) Should I bring his birth certificate?

3) should I bring a letter from my husband saying he is ok with our baby travelling out of the country?

4) Returning to the U.S. - I've not yet travelled on the permanent resident card, is there anything else I need for re-entry, any forms at all?

Based on my multiples international travels with my mom and my travel agency's experience, I could say the following answers, but it is applicable with Argentina, I recommend you to double check it:

1. It should be fine. My mom was naturalized argentina's citizen and we went through the same residents window, with me, holder of taiwanese passport.

2. at least take a copy of it

3. check in UK if you travel with a under 18 kid needs their both parents permission or not. If yes, YES.

and the 4 i haven't the experience yet.

1.Yes your baby can go through the UK passport line with you. Your husband can do that also if you travel together next time. That's what we were told at Heathrow.

2. 3. It's never a bad idea to have extra documentation tucked away.

4. There's only the customs form that everybody on the plane fills out.
