NOA2 Received. Many Questions: I 864, Joint Sponsor, etc.

I got my NOA1 a while ago. I was busy orchestrating an international move, among other things, and haven't been able to get the second package out yet. I have many, many questions about this package though. I was hoping some of you could help me out with this. I have been trying to call the Visa center itself, and it appears to be basically impossible to actually get through to a person there. Here we go:

1. From the time you receive your NOA1, how long do you have to send everything off?

2. What is proof of relationship? Is this like pictures, letters, emails, etc. that I sent with the I 130?

3. What is proof of US status?

4. Proof of assets. Not needed if you exceed poverty guidelines, right?

5. Is it necessary to file form I 864A?

6. My father will be co-sponsoring. Do I need a copy of his birth certificate, or his whole passport, or both?

7. My father and my mother file their taxes jointly. Do I need to send my mother's birth certificate, W2s, etc.?

8. My father is self-employed and doesn't have W2s, per se. Can I just check 'Not Applicable' on the cover sheet for this?

Any help is very much appreciated. If you only know the answer to one of these, but you're the expert on that one question, by all means, please answer. Thank you all in advance.

Are you talking about the NOA2? That's the vernacular for the approval notice (NOA1 is the vernacular for the receipt notice).

Answers:

1. You can't submit anything to the NVC until they receive the file, scan it into their system and issue a case number and invoice the appropriate bills. More information on the NVC process can be found here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process
2. You don't need these items at this juncture.
3. This does not apply to petitioners.
4. Not needed if you are not using assets to qualify.
5. Only for those who are combining income.
6. Your father will be a joint sponsor (joint sponsor is the proper term when referring to an I-864, not co-sponsor). Any one item that establishes his US Citizenship will be acceptable.
7. Are your father and mother combining income? If so, an I-864A filled out by her will need to be submitted; if not, she doesn't need to submit anything.
8. I don't know the correct answer.

We have received the notice saying that our petition has been approved. My wife and I both received letters asking for financial documents, as well as a list of other things. We only need to send in one package, right?

A little clarification on some of these.

2. Is this proof of my relationship with my joint sponsor?

3. Is this proof of US status for joint sponsors?

That letter is used for multiple processes and multiple situations. In some cases it is applicable; in other cases, it isn't.

One more thing: I used a photocopy of my birth certificate for the I 130 package and it was fine. Can I use photocopies of my parents' birth certificates in this case?
