Inmigrant visa approved, i have to go to USA but...

I am not ready with my stuff in my country yet, I need at least 4 months more.

i have read here (in VisaJourney) that the average time to receive the GC after the POE is 3 weeks to four months, but also i heard about cases up to 6 months and still within the normal waiting time...

also... since i stated in the DS260 that i want a SC number and Card... what do i have to do after entering the USA? the guy who will handle the package at the airport will handle that and i only have to wait for the card to arrive? is there a way (web, email phone, a place) where i could track how long, where are my GC? like a tracking number?

do you have passport back yet? yes? no? if yes, or when yes,

study the visa foil, the small paragraph containing the word 'endorsement'

and when you get a moment, study:

1. the SSN sub-forum and

2. the ELIS topic in the General Immigration sub-forum.

Go Get Em, and Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Why does it matter how long it takes for the GC to arrive? And what does this have to do with not being ready with stuff in your country?

if an immigrant spousal visa, that one word, 'endorsement', is really important.

Because i have to go back to my native country to the aniversary of my Mother who passed away past Nov 10.

if you entered on a spousal immigrant visa, you not need a green card for the first year of your existence here, past the POE date.

No, this is F1 visa, my father is US citizen.

i went to the US Social Security Office...

they told me that they send the card two days ago, so it should arrive this week.

i am impressed i have been told that it will take between 3 weeks and 6 months

I have received the Social Security Card.

now how long for the Residence card?

But why does it matter how long it takes? Are you worried that nobody will be there to receive the mail or something?

As mentioned above, the green card is a proof of permanent residency, but you already have a proof of permanent residency the moment you entered the US -- the immigrant visa stamped upon entry IS a green card valid for one year.

please study the visa foil stamp glued into your passport.

You SHOULD have a small paragraph there containing the word 'endorsement' in it. Can find it, study it? Oh, I sincerely hope so !

now how long for the Residence card?

All depends on ELIS status. What is your current status in the ELIS portal ?
