Two questions from a newbie

Hi there,

I will apologise in advance if this is the wrong area to post this question. It seems like the right place, but this is literally my 1st post here.

I am a US citizen who is (I think) nearly through the process for my wife of 14 years who is Australian. We both live in Australia together and I've been trying to be the petitioner for her to immigrate to the US. We initially applied for the Preference Category: IR1 - SPOUSE OF UNITED STATES CITIZEN in July 2013, (receipt date by USCIS was 2 August 2013). We received the I-797 Notice of Action (is this the NOA-1 ?) in March 2014 with this approval notice. Naturally, we were quite excited, but then things moved to the NVC. After much difficulty and many submissions of information we finally received a letter from the NCV stating "We have finished reviewing your case. We will tell you when we set an interview date for your case. Please do not contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA about your interview until we give you the date." This was on April 1 of this year. Since then we've heard nothing from either the NVC or the Embassy.

I've tried looking through the VisaJourney information and I get the impression that our case has taken longer than the average times being recorded here. I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on time frames between receiving information above and actually hearing when the interview is? I'm reluctant to contact NVC as they are, in my experience, at best not helpful but I'm not sure where to turn to see what the status of this is.

Should I reach out to NVC again or is this "normal"? Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance,

Thank you in advance,

it really depends on the embassy , but the average time to schedule for the interview is between a month and two , and yes call the NVC as many times as you can and ask them about your schedule date , they might have it but not send the notification out yet.
