Hello,

I found this site accidentally and it's nice to read about others facing the same problems. I am a canadian citizena and my fiance is american, we filed for a petition in september and were surprised to be approved so quickly at the beginning of december, from there i thought the wait for the interview would be short and easy. The letter we received said it woudl be a 2-4 month wait, while an operator at the montreal embassy said it iwoudl be 2-3 months. I called last month and someone else told me it would be 3-4 months, now i called today and they said it's going to be a 4-6 month wait :(. Why won't they make up their minds?? They also told me that they're processing October and November applications at right now and setting up interviews. I read that somone on this forum has got an interview date for may, so i think mine may be in july or august now :(. This is so frustrating! Does anyone think that it will take longer than the 6 months? and can an interview be set for longer than the 2 weeks from when you get your interview letter?

Thanks for your help,

Jessie

Colin - thanks for the update. I know they can be a bit agitated sometimes, I've got that "says here you called 3 weeks ago..." line too - they don't seem to understand the impact these immigration proceedings have on peoples lives...Hopefully you'll hear back soon.

Buttercup - I would try to stay positive with the mixed correspondance you're getting from Montreal. Seems to me they like to give you the absolute worst case scenario when giving out timelines....I guess that way you'll expect the worst and if they get you scheduled in 2 weeks instead of 3 months than you'll be overjoyed. I suppose it makes sense -- if they told you 2 weeks and it took 15 days you'd be calling freaking out because they didn't make their deadline - this is just a way to cover their butts I think. So keep your head up, I'd doubt it'll take 4-6 months and hopefully you'll get good news soon.

Good luck

Darryl

Jessie, this forum and thread concern a different visa process than yours. I recommend that you look in the K-1 forum, the Embassy Forum and the Canada forum for more information about your type of visa application.

hello fellow VJ'ers

so i have an update as well..... acutally not much of one. upon the advice of tracy and others, i called montreal on wednesday to get more info over the phone. luckily, they didn't comment on the number of times i've e-mail'ed, and i try not to call them too much.

the lady on the phone was really nice and she said that they sent a "request for more info" to NVC on 3/20/07 and have not heard a reply back from them yet. so that's it!! still waiting, but she did mention that i should be getting my interview in may/june. i hope she's right!!

wish you all luck in your journey,

matt

Matt,

Glad to hear you've got an update - hopefully May will be a good month. I read somewhere on here that interviews are only scheduled and passed out on the 15th of each month for the next round of interviews....and it kind of seems likely since the only people who got April interviews found out between March 15-21....so hopefully we'll all be in the next batch passed out on April 15th.

Colin,

Thanks for the update - I love that you email/call them so often! It's really great to get these updates. Lets hope the interview dates start flowing through next week! I wonder if the post I'd read about them only scheduling interviews for the next month on the 15th of each month is not the case? I guess we'll all have to wait and see. I'll be sure to post if I hear anything - if I don't hear anything next week I'll be calling on the 16/17 of April so I'll post when I get a response.

Thanks again Colin

Well i'm a little concerned. We got the email on the 22nd of March saying our interview letter was on the way and the date was May 22nd. Well what we got in the mail was the Adam Walsh all clear letter over again. Now i'm wondering if they sent the wrong letter or even if we have an interview. Now I have to wait all the way until Tuesday to see what is up Montreal's rear now. Geez how hard is it to send a letter?

Hi Tracy

Glad to hear everything is still on track for you. I know that sinking feeling when things seem to be going awry.

I think I'll follow suit as Darryl. I'll wait until the end of next week, and if I don't hear anything, I'll call and find out where I stand in the queue. I eagerly check my mail each and every day for the sacred letter!

Cheers,

Matt

Hey everyone,

Well I got impatient and decided to confirm the whole theory of when interview dates are scheduled. I called Montreal and just asked the general question - how/when are Visa interviews scheduled? The lady I spoke to was really really nice and explained it fairly well.

Unfortunately for all of us in this thread....we are all second priority. The National Visa Center schedules their applicants’ interviews for Montreal first - they do this on the 15th of the month. So applicants who filed through USCIS/NVC get priority...whatever open date/times are available after the NVC has scooped up what they need - those are the ones passed out to us.

As an example, if for the month Montreal can schedule and accommodate 500 interviews...the NVC takes what they need (say for example 450) - the remaining 50 are used for us "special cases." These numbers are just for the purpose of the example (they were not provided by the lady in Montreal).

So inadvertently our interviews get scheduled after the 15th of the month - this is just because the NVC does it by then. So its some informative news...not necessarily good news, but informative.

Boy if we knew then what we know now, we would have done this whole thing differently. Unfortunately we're now too far along to change it up, so all we can do is wait...
