Hi all.. We currently had our interview June 16 in Montreal and all went well(approved) however they told us about this system being down and therefore will be a delay in receiving my actual visa. My question is, I had a trip planned in 2 weeks and I'm assuming I will not have my passport by then with my visa in it, so has anyone had any luck crossing from canada into US with a photocopy of passport?.. I also have my approved letter and supporting documents.

I know it's up to the border officers discretion.. But does anyone see this being a red flag for my process? As I would hate to ruin anything at this point I just figure it's worth a shot

I'm not sure about the answer to your question, sorry :( but did Montreal give you a timeline of when approximately you would have it? I have my interview at the end of the month and am nervous as I have a trip planned afterwards.

I would assume that you probably wouldn't be able to cross without the original passport but someone else posted that they requested to pick up their passport by a certain date if it wasn't done at the U.S. Embassy!

They told me 4-6 weeks which I'm hoping is a very big estimate and will be sooner. And they also told me I was able to take my passport with me or request for it back during the wait.. However, he told me that would put my visa "on hold" so it would prolong the process even longer. Since then I'd have to ship it back and have other approvals go ahead of mine.

So I decided to just leave it with them to not delay any further.

Wow... That wait is awful. Thank you for the helpful info!

So basically you can put it in queue but if you remove it it's back of the line if I understand correctly?

So glad i found this thread! So my wife is in the same position, she had her interview and they needed some more info (original I864 and translated birth cert). Her visa is undergoing administrative processing and it could be 8 weeks until she gets her passport and visa packet back. She lives in vancouver and i'm in seattle, I'm hoping she can come visit using her NEXUS pass, but i can't seem to find any information on if she'll be denied entry due to a pending immigrant visa! Any info will help.

Thanks!

Ok so my wife was able to cross the border by vehichle using her nexus pass while her Immigrant visa is undergoing "administrative processing". No problems at all.
