IV documents not in sealed envelope in DHL package

Good day everyone,

I have a concern!!!!

I received my IV package from DHL today. When I signed for the package I asked the courier agent about my passport, and he said I would need to open the DHL package to take out the Passport and there was another envelope inside, which I shouldn't open. I said I know that, but I just wanted to ensure that I get out my passport from the package.

Panicking, I proceeded and opened the DHL package. When I did, I realized that my documents were NOT in another sealed envelope. They were placed in an "under-sized" envelope with the Passport tucked in between a few sheets, and then a rubber band placed around the documents. I'm a bit anxious as to what to do. The documents are not in a sealed envelope!! How can I be sure that this is how the embassy sent over the documents to DHL? How can I convince the IO at POE that that is how I received them from DHL??

Anyone had that same issue? Is there anything to be concerned about? What should I do?

Everything should be in the envelope and u can only see the edges and the envelop wrap tightly with the rubber bands. When i went to DHL the lady open the plastic bag gave me my passport and ask me to check if the information was correct and showed me the expired date and that i have to travel before that date. Just try not to burst the rubber bands around the package that says 'dont not open, to be presented to immigration officer as this is ur visa' Good luck

Ok thanks. I took another look at the package and realized that the envelope was actually sealed...leaving just a little portion showing the edges of the documents inside. Thanks for replying to my concern. My fears are now gone. I will be around until my after my 2nd anniversary (October 12) and a week before visa expires, in order to activate the 10-year Green Card.

It is ok. Just keep it in a safe place.. I also had the same issue when i went to collect my K-1.That is awsome.. Worth the wait.

It sure it fe true. Hubby has obliged to wait out the 5 months until October. I'll make it up to him at our anniversary get away.

You're welcome. I can imagine how excited you are. Can enjoy ur days without a bit of worry about the embassy now. It was so frustrating most of the time. It's so much relief to be over it but for K-1 that's just a break cause we have to file AOS that's going to be another journey.

I can imagine. The additional paper work in another 18 months time was one of the reasons I decided to just wait it out..and since we were close to the 2 year margin. But, I will use the extra time in JA to wrap up loose ends. All the best on the other leg of your journey.
