Criminal Background at CSC question

Hey VJers,

I have tried searching other posts but most are outdated and involve TSC or CSC when it used to be backlogged. I was just wondering if anyone with a recent, similar circumstance could help me out so I know what to expect!

I am only at the 36 day mark at CSC waiting for my NOA2. Needless to say I am wondering if I will fall behind other members petition approvals as my fiancé, the US petitioner, has a criminal history. He was convicted one time of theft of the third degree 5 years ago, did 6 months time and 1.5 years house arrest.

I was just wondering if anyone with a criminal conviction wanted to share their experience compared to others in waiting for their NOA2 as my fiancé for sure will show up with a "hit" on the system at CSC. I.e. did your NOA2 come a few weeks, a few months, or a year later due to a search? I also know each case would be different but I would just like to see some concrete evidence of others with similar experiences.

Thank you for your help!

Hi! I am also a Canadian filer and i read Q and A with a former USCIS Adjudicator awhile ago and i think it might be kind of what your looking for http://www.visajourney.com/content/adjudicator-q-and-ascroll down to the question what types of things are red flags in someones file. I realize this data is kinda old but i hope it helps! I don't think you should have much of an issue because it is the USC with the record. not the Canadian. :)

How old was he during the conviction? Felony or misdemeanor? How much was the amount?

I'm not really looking into going into too much detail. I realize the harsher the crime the longer the background search might take... I was just wondering if anyone else with a conviction had to wait much longer for their NOA2s than the filers who filed around the same time.
